    Ignition Shielding from Zip

My original ignition shielding off my '75 has it's shares of dings and scratches and I would like to replace. Any opinion on the quality of the ignition shielding from Zip Corvette? Any NCRS concerns when it comes to judging concerning this shielding?

Pete its always better to use the original when having car judged and use the repro when not having car judged. with the original you'll receive only a deduct for condition. and receive all the originality points.

Edward, in general which parts is it safe to use reproductions? I ask because I see no identifying marks on the ignition shielding, specifically the vertical ignition shields. I'm assuming whoever produces these pieces for Zip do not fabricate to originality and probably are alot cleaner/smoother looking than the folds and rivets of the originals?

How about emblems? I ask because there is an "originality" box on the scoring sheet, yet I do not see a difference from my Zip emblems compared to the ones I pulled off the car.

Peter the judges should be able to tell the difference on the repro top sheild and verticals as most of the time the chrome plating on the repro parts are much better than the factorys. and the metal stamping process is different. As far as the repro emblems If there made by Trim Parts they'll really close and do not believe there would be a problem with judging.

Remember that anything you replace on your car that is not exactly like the original there will be some deducts. there are some great repro parts out there and some not so good. so do your research, as you are now. and keep in mind that a original part is going to get all originality points and if there a scratch or dent it will only receive condition point losses. the big thing if your deducted on originally and configuration. thats 20 percent for each.
