Hello, I looked at a 1957 Corvette, Cascade green with beige interior for a friend to purchase. The car is origional with the only body repairs made to the right rear from an impact. My question is the lower portion of the steering column (below dash) is painted the same color as the body (cascade green). It appears to have never been repaired or painted, and is in the same condition as the remainder of the car. I know that the technical manual states the color should be the same as the lower dash panel (beige), however I cannot see that this has ever been painted. Is it possible that some of these were painted the exterior color? This is an april 1957 built unit if it makes any difference. As always, thank you for any and all help. John
