Yup, no E70-15 tire size was EVER originally used on any Corvette. However, that size was used on other "muscle car era" cars. I believe the tires pictured were used on Shelby GT350 Mustangs and some Z-28 Camaros. Maybe other cars, too.

Joe, they were on a 1969 Shelby GT500 and there was some question to the correctness during its judging. I was not sure if maybe they were used on some C3 cars in the late sixties. Thanks for the information. Oh......What the #%#%# is AFAIK????

I don't know too much about Mustangs. However, I thought the GT500 used a bigger tire---like maybe an F70-15 (like Corvette) or an F60-15 or G60-15.

              Joe,

The E size was found to be correct they are pretty narrow. I do not know much about the history of the Goodyear Speedway tires, I remember I had Goodyear white letter tires on my 1969 Z28 but do not know the size, as I remember back then the 70 series was pretty wide compared to regular tires.
This set was removed as the car will be driven now and replaced with radials. My thought was that if they were used on a Corvette they may be a find for someone. Looks like they may be a "Shelby" thing.

Thanks all for the clarification on AFAIK it took we weeks to find out what LOL meant, had to go to one of my kids, my texting skills are not that up-to-date.

Re: Goodyear Speedway was this used on any Corvette

Speaking as a Shelby expert, and part time judge for MCA and SAAC, the Goodyear Speedway E70X15 in large letter, as these are (the small letter ones were for '67 Shelbys) is the correct tire for '68 Shelbys, both GT350 and GT500. However, after late April to early May of the production year in '68, as the GT500KRs were being produced, Shelby switched to a blackwall E70X15, so these would not be correct for a late production Shelby from '68 or '69, when they switched to Goodyear Polyglas F-60s. But if you had an early '68 production car, these would be very valuable as non-DOT tires. Yes, MCA and SAAC also have strict rules like NCRS on such things

I will pass that on, as the story goes the tires caused the car a gold award.
                  Thanks

You're welcome, and yes the wrong tires will do it. But, if he wants to sell those tires, I'm sure someone on the SAAC board would want them.

1969 Z/28's used E70-15 white-letter tires, from two suppliers - the Goodyear was the Wide Tread GT, and the Firestone Sport Car 200.
