AC heather core merket rdt der straps skal festes.jpg
I wonder where you see the red lines on the picture of the heather core i suppose that is where the straps are attached?

And that the straps attaches to the metal plate on the inner AC heather box with 2 screws each strap

Roger: right that's where the 2 straps are positioned. Long Island Corvette Supply has them, if you're needing them.

OK - o-rings. Every metal pipe connection that has a nut will need an o-ring. You will already have some in the diaphragm kit coming to you. The green ones seem to be preferred today. You need several sizes (not metric): #6, #8, #10, #12, compressor block, and little capillary tube size.
Best bet is to get a "GM o-ring assortment kit" that has several of each size in it. Always remember to lubricate the 0-ring with compressor oil before installing.
I don't know if they ship internationally, but I like a company called "Arizona Mobile Air" in Phoenix. Their web page is "ACKits.com". They carry the exact assortment I'm talking about. You will need a quart of 525 viscosity mineral oil for the compressor (takes 11 ounces for full fill) and you can obtain it from them.

Claus in the 64 Corvette Shop Manual Supplement on pages 13-36, 13-37 (exploded view photo), and 13-38 covers the disassembly, inspection and repair, and assembly of the STV valve. The 64 Corvette manual supplement also has information on rebuilding the air conditioner compressor. I can try to e-mail you the three pages if you send your e-mail to me.

Doc Rebuild has a good diagram of the vacuum set up on the 65 with A/C..I used Classic Air to rebuild my STV, replate my 65 muffler and rebuild a correct compressor.

I must say that i am a bit pleased now with the restored AC parts The outer AC box with the cooler elbow and cooler tube I turned the lower half of the STV valve so i guess it sits the correct way now? When i turned the bottom half of the STV valve i noticed the spring to say it like that On the upper part of the STV is the piston and diaphragm and on the lower half of the STV valve is the spring with a special washer that sits under the spring in the bottom half of the STV valveI hope this i correct?I am waiting for a new evaporator , heather core and some other small parts that i will have on Thursday at the latestI have to fabricate the bracket that sits on the outer AC box and evaporator lid myself if any here dont have a spare one that they might sell?

The picture below show how the bottom half is turned on the STV valve

Roger: See the photo of what I believe to be an original 1964 box.

Notice how the bottom half of the STV is oriented. It looks like yours was taken apart and reassembled with the lower half mispositioned.

Here's a shot of my '65 for another view.

It probably doesn't affect the operation, but since you're taking it apart anyway...

                Glad you liked the parts!

Claus -- here's the orientation on my early '65; don't know if the '64s were the same. The head on the expansion valve points directly forward (notice the spring winding protection on the small tube from the power element bulb). You mention that you're expecting a new evaporator core. I hope it has just one 90 degree bend where it enters the evap., because yours has two bends so your head is pointing towards the passenger fender.

Orientation of the "sputnik" (absolute vacuum regulator) / lower "cover": As there are five screws, a variety of positions is available. My photo shows my mounting tabs at about 30 degrees off forward, and I don't think it's ever been touched in the first 15 years prior to my ownership. This angle seems to agree with the picture (Fig 16) in the '65 Service Manual Supplement, and it has the bonus of offering maximum protection. Again; don't know if '64s are different.

Any here that have seen the inner AC box that LIC sells?
Would like to have some feedback on the part if it looks just like the original and have the same thickness and so on

Or if anybody knows of someone that have the inner AC box for sale?

Wayne can you email the picture you posted to my email? So i can see it on a larger picture?
As far i as i can see and know the 1963-65 AC parts are identical including the STV valve and the evaporator core

Here is the evaporator i have ordred

Here are my old evaporator and it looks just like the one i ordered i think

I have tried to post opictures so the new and old evaporator is shown from the same angle this time

                            Roger:

The new evaporator you have coming looks fine.

Your old one is a '66. Notice the lower tube - it has 2 bends like Wayne mentioned.

I tried to see and had a hard look several times for what Wayne said but i must admit i really did not notice so i asked Wayne if he could email me a larger picture

But off course now i see it Mike

I can relax about getting the correct parts because i checked and the parts will be here on Wednesday

I got some new parts for the AC for my car today so i wonder about a couple of things
The 2 nuts that attach the stv valve bracket to the outer AC box i ordered from LIC part# 35-52B (2 nuts to fasten the bracket to the AC box and 2 screws to fasten the STV valve to the bracket)
Are they supposed to have that type of locker washer? And also it looks like the the bolts that you secure the STV valve have finer threads than the nuts?(see the picture to the left)
The same goes for the 2 small bolts that comes with the nuts to fasten the STV valve to the bracket( LIC part# 35-52B)
See the picture in the right where i point my finger to the 2 bolts i wonder about the nuts

I also wonder about the the AC blower box stud plates and rivets(part # 37-37D LIC)is supposed to be placed? See the picture in the middle

Updated. I just recived a email from LIC and they said the thread on the bolt and nuts that fasten the STV valve bracket to the AC box have 1/4-20 thread. Is this correct?
