While I have the dash out I am trying to remove the dist tach drive cable for lubrication. It is binding and won't pull out from the dash side of the cable housing. I do not want to break it. Does the cable need to be disconnected and removed from the distributor side first? Thanks

Re: '61 FI Tach Drive Cable Removal
originally the cable inserted thru the tach head end first. that being the case, to remove the cable, unhook the cable housing nut from the tach head and then pull the cable out of the housing. i suspect bubba inserted thru the distributor end first, in which case you'll have to remove it from the distributor end. if the cable itself unwound and is clogging the housing, then i'd remove the cable/housing assembly and take it the the workbench. try not to damage the housing as they are scarce. good luck,mike- Top
