    Engine Assembly Process

When BB engines where assembled at Tonawanda, were the intake manifold
and carburetors installed or was the intake manifold and the carburetors
installed at St.Louis as part of final assembly?

Intake @ Tonawanda, Carbs @ St Louis. Note callout for Carbs on Sheet A3 of the L71 AIM.

        Jaime -

Any item that shows a part number callout in the Assembly Manual was installed at St. Louis.

          Jaime,

The engines were test fired with natural gas (no carb.) at Tonawanda.

I also have another picture of it, but it's a .php file that I can't open.

            Jaime,

Here's another thread that has more info, including the picture I was thinking of. I see where I stole my image from!

              Joe,
Was that page from Mike Mueller's book?

                Mike,

I'm not familiar with the book you mention. The thread that I provided the link to spells out the source.

Thanks Joe, I seen now this was a Corvette Restorer article Terry M. wrote.

This was the book I was refering too. It's has some good reviews and one bad on Amazon.

I'm more interested in the build process then Corvette history. John H. Powerpoints along with the assembly process book are the best I've seen so far on this subject.

                      Mike,

Thanks for the heads up on the book. It looks very interesting. I think Santa wants me to have it for Christmas.

I agree with you that the John Hinckley presentations are outstanding. The Noland Adams book is very good too.
