    Paul -

"In the biz", we call the trim bands (and the pattern of tiny dots) "frit".

Trivia - A couple of days after I joined Chrysler in 1985, I attended a future product (clay model and mockups) showing in the Styling Dome put together for an Iacocca review, for final sign-off on the new "C"-body cars. Iacocca didn't like the "frit" pattern around the windshield and how it aligned with the edge of the interior garnish moldings, and the meeting turned into an hour of lots of opinions on how the "frit" should be done from many folks well above my pay grade at the time.

After the meeting broke up I was out in the hall talking to Tom Gale (Styling VP at the time), and he was still hot under the collar; just before he stalked off down the hall, he said (loudly), "Jeezus, now we need a Vice President in charge of "frit" so we don't have any more of these stupid meetings."

Thanks for the clear explanation of how the tint shape is probably produced with the repro tinted windshields . Search as I did on google and google images, I was unable to find a clear example of what a "vignette transition" is, so I still have no idea what that term visually implies.

      Gary,

There must have been a photographer involved in the 66 JG. Vignetting is like tapering the pixels at the edges, rather than having a clear defined (masking) line.

      Take a look here:

Vignetting in photography, any process by which there is loss in clarity towards the corners and sides of an image.

Take a look at my 67, and you will see that curved and tapered shading pattern on the original windshield.

But next time we do Chassis, you will have to show me how to eliminate my "vignette" in determining a side exhaust add-on.

      Just having fun,

Gary, under all the other information located at bottom of my windshield is just W636. There is no DW636, is this uncommon? Dutch

          Dutch,

I've never looked for it before, so I have no idea.

The W636 must be something that is only visible on some repro windshields since there is no mention of those letters/numbers in the '66 JG for original windshields.
