Re: '60 Top Fender Trim
On my '61 I was able to loosen the backing plate and slide it out from the trim. Once that was done it was easy to silver solder a new stud in place.

Re: '60 Top Fender Trim
On my 1960, the steel backing plate was rusted to the stainless trim piece and would not release from the stainless. I pumped penetrating oil between the stainless and the steel backing plate and let it soak for a day; then used a small hammer to tap the end stud to get it broken loose; then pulling the backing plate out with long needle nose pliers. To protect the stud threads from the hammer, install enough nuts on the stud to cover it or use a small piece of wood to tap against the base of the stud. It is a 2 man operation, one to hold the stainless trim piece while the other taps with hammer and then pulls it out with needle nose pliers. The person that holds the stainless needs to wear gloves as the edges are razor sharp.- Top
