    '63 chassis restoration questions/specs.

    Hi,
I'm back to the NCRS after a 18 year hiatus. I just bought a 63 convertible which had the chassis mostly restored by the previous owner. The frame is excellent, no rust, no pitting, etc. Its been sandblasted/painted, new bushings, bearing, rear arms, steering box, etc. I want to make the finishing touches and correct anything to make the chassis Top Flight worthy. I have the Nolan Adams book which talks about varying black chassis paint, but not much more detail. I'd like to know what gets painted what:
    Steering linkage
    suspension components
    control arms
    backing plate
    brake drums
    springs
    bolts/washers
    steering box
    sway bar
    front uppper control arm bar
    shocks
    parking brake cable and brackets

Is there a judging manual which will show what gets judged and what the criteria is?
Can I get my frame judged at my house for a fee before placing the body back on? ie. house call judging, Bergen Cty, NJ.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ken

1963/64(?) judging manual will answer most is not all of your questions. The frame/chassis could be judged before body goes back however will not count towards Flight judging. As long as the person doling out the opinion is "restoration savvy" as it compared to NCRS standards would count towards what appears right or wrong before body goes onto frame....nothing more...nothing less.

Ken, thats a mouth full. There as so many small details along with what you have. My advice is to see if there is a local chapter member close to you. click on the NCRS members services to find a chapter and send them a email. My understanding is that the 63/64 judges manuel is due to be revised sometime in the near future. and I suppose you could follow the old one. I sure there are changes coming.
