69 3 x 2 Return Spring Bracket

Hi Everyone and a very Happy new year to you all.

I have this bracket (pic attached) to fit and just wanted to make sure i fitted it correctly. Does anyone have any pictures of one fitted or can someone let me know which way the spring attaching hole goes...up or down.

I have trolled the web and can only find pictures of the bracket, from suppliers. I suspect this bracket was discarded by many repairers but from what i can see trying to find a good fitting place for my return spring, it either binds on lines and rods or is too stiff to operate.
