Hi folks. I spent the morning at the Detroit auto show and snapped a few pics of the C7 that's there on the floor. Shown in Cyber Gray, I think it looks MUCH better than red. In my opinion, the gray body color goes better with the black trim pieces (hood louvers, cove molding, rear fascia, rear brake intakes). There is a red car in the display, however, it's hung high on the wall like a painting, which makes it hard to photograph. Take a look at the photos and see what you think. There was quite a crowd gathered around it, and the "buzz" is extremely positive.

Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
Don, thanks for posting the photos. I'm with you , the gray presents much better in photos. The red just can't show the cars lines in photos, maybe better in person. I am usually fond of a red Vette, just not this one. Chip.- Top

Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
Just got back from the Detroit Auto Show. Two notable things about the car: 1. In person, it looks different, much tamer. The C6 lineage is more evident from the front than is seen in the photos, it really does look like a Vette. 2. The back end looks much better in person. I like it, at least on the grey car. The lines fit the car. I looked at a Camaro and then the Stingray; other than the number of lights, if there is any real similarity, it is slight.
I'm now#25 on a waiting list (but I don't think I'll order that interior color)....- Top

Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
At the 2014 Corvette reveal in Detroit, we were talking with Corvette’s Exterior Design Manager Kirk Bennion about the new car. He was holding the front license plate holder and wanted to show us how those who live in a state that mandates a front license plate would affix it to their C7 Corvette. The […]

Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
Lucky you guys who can do without a front license plate...
Not too good news for people like us in Europe / Germany, though: if C7 might get in heat-trouble when driven hard with a plate installed (madatory over here), it will be a nasty sight to see Porsche's drive by our beloved ones stranded on the Autobahn...
So, does the General not think globally enough???- Top

Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
Those Euro-plates are really big and unsightly. Don't they make a more US style one for US cars? The front plate issue here in New Mexico has been fought for many years. Two years ago a Democrat from the big city (we only have one in NM), spoke to police and introduced a bill to require front plates. My next door neighbor and old friend is our local state rep, and the Speaker of the House for NM, so I asked all the Corvette (including NCRS), Mustang, Mopar, and classic car clubs to contact him and complain. Needless to say, it never made it out of committee and we will keep it that way.Lucky you guys who can do without a front license plate...

Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
The Italians understood this, even back in the 60's. Photo below shows the license plates (vac-formed plastic) that were on my first Ferrari ('68 330GTC) when I imported it from Turin in 1972; the larger rear plate is 8-1/2" x 10-1/2", and the much smaller front plate is 2-1/2" x 10-1/2".

Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
Mike, I agree with you on the C6 lineage. I can see a natural evolution in this car from at least C6 to C7, especially when I look at it in Cyber Gray. Maybe I'm advantaged, having a Cyber Gray Grand Sport to compare. See attached vs photos of my GS vs the C7.Just got back from the Detroit Auto Show. Two notable things about the car: 1. Re: C7 Photos From the Detroit Auto Show!
Although I've never seen one in person, if you go back through that monster thread of Jack Panzica's Scandanavian/European trip, you will see some plates that fit. I don't know where they were from.- Top
