    Tech 2 scan tools ?

    Hello;
    Need experienced help on whether the Vetronix(OTC) Tech 2 scan tool is the only one to buy ?
    I see there are many available, including, what some are calling, a china reproduction.
    Thank you in advance.

      Ray, I'm with Ed. I have two scan tools for different purposes. My AutoTap gives me real time sensor readings directly from the car to my laptop computer. However, I recently bought an Innova 3160 to read ABS codes on Chryslers and older GM trucks. This tool also provides sensor readings (although a little harder to use), but it is easier to set up than the AutoTap if you are just reading a code.

        Hello Edward;
        Sold my scan tools with my auto repair shop 8 years ago.
        Looking to buy an GM Autronix scan tool for diagnosing family, friends, and my vehicles.
        I don't know if the new MDI(?) technology will replace the Tech 1 & 2 scanners.
        Also don't know if other manufactures scanners are reliable.

        I hope you dance

          Ray, the tech series scan tools were great. I think what you want is a scan tool that can help make life a little easier when fixing cars w/ computer controls. if the scan can read live data stream, and have bi-directional controls to help activate some of the functions, like turning cooling fans, Air injection pumps, injectors, coil drivers, I won't keep on going you get the idea. So your looking for a scan tool with something to help with dia. of the engine controls.and most all have Engine, ABS, T/control, air bags, trans, data stream. for japanese, and american cars. I would go to /bay and check into what there.The scan tools I use amy shop are made by Snap-on and OTC. which can be costly for a home do it yourself. up dates for these tools run about 500. each for a Qtr. I think the big thing is the bi-directional control this help make life easier.
