    Alarm Horn for 69 Roadster

I have a 69 Roadster that appears to have had a factory alarm when new. The horn is missing---but the mount bolt is there---along with 3 wires hanging loose. Under the hood---the mount and switch are missing---but looks like they were there at one time. Both doors have the actuators---(along with the curteousy light switches). There is no key switch on the back panel---I can tell the back panel has been replaced at one time.

I'm tracking that I need the following: Horn, Relay, Buzzer, Switch for under the hood, key switch and the missing wiring.

So the question for the alarm experts---is there a technical data sheet someone has with part numbers, schematics, etc.? I'd like to go with NOS parts---does anyone know where look for the parts?

    I appreciate your assistance! Jon

The 1969 AIM, section UPC UA6 will provide you with all the part numbers of the original components of the system. That's the easy part. The hard part will be finding these components. All are GM-discontinued and difficult to locate. I believe a few are reproduced, but I'm not sure. The big problem will be the horn assembly. If you could find an NOS piece (and you'd probably look for years to find one), you could expect to pay a king's ransom for it. You might find a used piece (still going to be expensive) and you could have it restored by folks like Dennis Portka that restores horns.

By the way, there are couple of used anti-theft horns on eBay right now for relatively reasonable prices.

Take a look under the passenger side strorage tray where the jack is located. There should be a relay, flasher and wiring harness at the bottom of that well.

I agree. The AIM shows the complete installation and the old, original GM part numbers for what you need.

Thanks for the help. The AIM shows everything very clearly. I found a horn and am having is restored---most of the other components are still available as repros. I did find and NOS buzzer that cost a pretty penny.

Terry, I meant to say flasher---it is located in the jack storage area with the relay.

AH Ha! Yes there is a flasher there, and on my 1970 with UA6 that flasher and the hazard flasher are identical -- even down to the date code.

Now I have a feeling I have started something else here.

                    Dave,

I am not inclined to go look -- even if I was at home -- too much to move. I usually leave these flasher questions to Pete Lindahl.
All that said, it is the longer gold colored unit -- if that helps.

Agree with Dave ether would be fine a non dated would be fine for operations check. A dated one would cost more if that is a problem the service flasher would allow you to pass operations which is the bigger hit then a loss of the date during judging.

I don't do Interiors any more -- not that I did very much back when --- but checking the date on the hazard flasher during judging would require superhuman effort or removal of the flasher -- and to the best of my knowledge we just don't do that. I would be surprised at a date check of the UA6 flasher either. All that said, I suppose the odds could stack against you and both dates could be visible when the units are installed, but you would be a most unlucky individual to have that happen.

I only mentioned the dates because some people care about those kinds of things -- especially, it seems, folks who hang out here.

The information I have for him is as follows:

                            4326 Beetow Drive
                            Hamburg, NY 14075

                            716-649-0921

However, this is old information. I do not even know if he's still in the business.
