What documentation should I be trying to pursue for my '63. Since there was never a gas tank sticker available and a window sticker didn't come with the car, what else is available. I know the car came from Alan Green Chevrolet in Burien Washington.

Re: 63 documentation
Good old-fashioned detective work, starting with the guy you bought it from, and work your way back from there; there are numerous Internet search engines these days that are a great help in finding people. The little mom-and-pop dealership in Elgin, Iowa that sold my '67 new closed up in 1991, and about half a day's work on the tube found me the 85-y/o retired owner of the dealership; we had a delightful 30-minute conversation on the phone about my car's history.- Top

Re: 63 documentation
The internet is your friend. I bought my 63 in 1983 and through the Ontario licence office was able to find 3 previous owners, including the person that bought it in Illinois and imported it into Canada. He had nothing to give me other than a vague memory of the name of the person he purchased it from. That was in 1986 and from there on in I hit a dead end.
Fast forward to 2012 and through an internet search I finally found not only the elusive Illinois owner but he also led me to the person he bought the car from. Luckily these are two great guys that were more than glad to hear from me, filled in many blanks about the car, and even sent me pictures of the car from when they owned it. The only one missing now is the original owner but the consensus is that he is likely no longer with us.
Don't give up, I finally found most of my good information 25 years later.Golf is for those who can't play hockey.- Top

Re: 63 documentation
I bought my car in 1980 from the second owner who only owned it for a couple months. He bought it only to resell and make some money. The car has a dealer installed big tank according to the original owner who ordered the car with the N03 option. According to his testimony, Alan Green Chevrolet ordered the tank from General Motors and commissioned Ollies Corvette Specialties in Seattle to do the install. The original owner is no longer with us. All I have are the stories that he shared with me. I love those old stories but I don't consider them to be documentation. Tank build sheets and Protecto Plates came later so I think the only paper documentation would be the window sticker which is long gone. Isn't this correct?- Top

Re: 63 documentation
Hi Perry, I'm just curious about your car, I too have a big tank '63 owned for 45 years. But you mention it was not factory installed, can you tell me how original it looks according to Noland Adams book on big tank cars?
Thanks,- Top
