    65 block casting number

    My 65 300hp 327 has a block casting # 3782870 and casting date of I14 which I believe is Sept 1964.
The cars GM official production date is Dec 2, 1964.
My question, is the block date too far from the cars production date for judging purposes?
Thanks so much in advance for any help.

The date is fine for your car and quite typical.

I pretty sure there was a GM work stoppage (Strike) in 1964 that might account for the large spread. The JM allows 6 months difference.

That's right. They went out on 25 September. Not sure when they returned, but it was before the Thanksgiving holidays.

Going by S-body trim tag stampings, D6 (November 6th) was when they reported back for work.
