Thanks for the information. I some time wonder if my car is really a 55 even though the vin number indicates it is. I don't have the windshield washer system. There are a few other items missing.
for your washer system your car might be a little too early to be one of the few automatic cars with a foot pedal and washer bag. if you post a picture of the area to the left of your brake pedal we might be able to determine which system you had. otherwise go to the ebay posting of car #594 and note the location of the washer bag on the left fender. then go to your car and see if there are three holes in that area. the area were the top bracket would be has two holes approximately 1.5 inches apart and the lower bracket was held by a single screw. if there are no holes your car came with a washer jar and a round foot plunger.

Thanks for directing me to the Corvette on E Bay. I have saved the Pictures. I have a question - This Corvette being #594 has a Vacuum Advance. I was under the impression that the Vacuum Advance was on the earlier 55"s?

i have no idea about how this car ended up with a operating vacuum advance. the non-operating vacuum advances were in use for close to 200 cars by the time this car was made. the distributor number is correct(1110855), but the date code on this car's distributor does not fall in line with other 55 corvettes. i have noticed that three speed cars seem to be using a operating vacuum advance and the owner of #594 also owns car #694 which is a 3spd. #694 has a operating vacuum advance #1116085 on the car. i have not seen enough original 3spds to know if they should have operating vacuum advances, but if they originally had a operating vacuum advance then i would think that #594 has a distributor that was meant to go on a 3spd car. i will have to see if the date code on #594 starts to match the date codes on the later 3spd cars.

winner of auction will be given the original non-operating vacuum advance. operating vacuum advance was added to help with the performance of the car.
