    Help "ID" of radiator support

Radiator support removed from a '68 my question is it correct for a '68 Big Block. The lower mounts seem odd because of the double mounts. Any help would be appricated.
    Thanks

Those two center mounts are not on my Jan 68 built L68.

What is your engine code and VIN is it an early car how long have you owned said car? All big blocks except L-88 would have a brass radiator as such you should only have the outer radiator supports not the 2 circular inner ones. It is not typical but we learn something new all the time. Need more input from big block 68 owners of original cars that are close to your build date.

That is an odd dude. Later small block and air cars had the BB type radiator. Early BBs had the aluminum radiator. 68s never cease to amaze you.

As strange as it might seem, this support is very likely original. Why the dual lower mounts were used I have no idea. For one thing, aluminum radiators using the cup type mounts also required different side plates to constrict the opening than did brass radiators using the "horseshoe" mounts. So, it's not as if they could have had a "one-size-fits-all" support. Nevertheless, I have seen a few of these original supports and yours is exactly consistent.

Another interesting note: the 1968 AIM in the standard or UPC L36 section does not show a radiator support of this dual mount configuration. However, the 1969 AIM does show a support with dual mounts in UPC 11-13, sheet B4 as well as UPC L36, sheet B4. Of course, the 1969 supports were otherwise different than 1968 but I believe these sheets do establish the fact that dual mount supports were used during the period. Why, I have no idea. I have never seen one on a 1969 but they may have very well existed.

                Howard,

My December '67 built 1968 BB 427/390 does not have that type of radiator core support. It has only one large hole on the driver side for the wiring harness to pass through and no large holes on the passenger side. It has the 2-C shaped holders for the radiator.
