Since I already know which dealership GM sent my car to and from which it was sold, is there any advantage to me paying $40 for the search that NCRS would provide? Are there any other details that would be disclosed?

Re: Dealer search
Well, you get the date of production and the Dealer code and zone. In the case of my 1965, I already knew the dealer name and location (Early Chevrolet in Ruston Louisiana), which I got back in 1989 through the old NICB/NATB channels, courtesy of a friend with connections in law enforcement.
However, I didn't know the dealer code and zone (dealer closed decades ago), so I guess that was worth it; plus you get this neat gold seal on a frameable document
