      John, it looks like your unit is for 1961-1962 since it does not have the 642 Tung-Sol flasher. It has the #257 flashing bulb.

        That brass spring piece has a hole worn in it and is generally chewed up. If I fiddle with it, it'll work for a while, and then it won't. I was hoping there was some way to take it apart and replace that springy piece.

          Christopher, I believe you can solder, JB Weld, or super glue a patch over the worn out spot if there is enough remaining to solder or glue to. I believe Rich Mozzetta soldered a piece on his switch. Reread one of the earlier posts on this thread. He also included a picture of the repaired brass piece; from a distance. I don't know if you can find the proper type of brass, but you could probably use a thin piece of steel flashing. If you connect the patch high enough, the actuator pin on the brake rod should not interfere with the patch. It is worth a try.

            Yes that's exactly the same problem I had, and the picture of that switch above in pieces has the same problem. I used a thin piece of brass and silver soldered it to cover the hole. You can get the thin brass sheet at a hobby shop.
