Hi there..I am a new member and glad to be a part of NCRS!, however I have had six midstyles since 1984 so I am not new to this great "hobby". Over these years I've always been able to figure out pretty much everything regarding restorations..what it is what and how to fix it and where it goes except one thing: the headrest angle on 66-67. It started when I purchased the whole kit from CC and carefully following their directions..I welded the cross frame exactly how their drawing was. When I put the seat back together ..it was VERY obvious that the angle was way to forward!. I then consulted an assembly manual and sure enough CC's drawing was incorrect. So, back to the drawing board ,I pulled it apart re welded the cross frame and the end result was better...still not great. So this is when I became very aware of an "issue" and with many trips to car shows and Barrett Jackson I have seen headrest angles all over the place from ones like mine when I first did it (incorrectly) way to far forward to one this year at Barrett that saw a '67 coupe with headrests leaning so far back the part thats suppose to touch the back of your head faced upwards to wards the headliner (clearly installed wrong). So now I have an original factory headrest optioned "67 and the headrests are in my opinion still angled to far forward..yet at Barrett I sat in a buddys factory installed headrest car and they were perfect...just touched the back of your head with only a slight angle forward. So does anybody know or has come across this and could enlighten me...?...were the factory bends in the main support bent at any angle they felt like?...Thanks so much,Greg

Re: 66-67 Headrest angle
The 66 headrest is thicker and is too far forward to be comfortable to me. The 67 is much better in my opinion. There was an obvious re-design there, but the brackets and mechanism in the seat is exactly the same. If there are any differences out there, they were owner inspired and not factory. I am sure all the factory ones are essentially the same.- Top

Re: 66-67 Headrest angle
Thanks for your reply..yeah I know the 66 is thicker and more forward...Im still seeing differences in 67"s which are documented factory installed as is mine. Im wondering if the factory maybe changed the angle as the build year continued?!- Top

Re: 66-67 Headrest angle
HI Greg -- welcome to the board (fellow Calgarian). Chris (Xxxx) from Kelowna -- never did get his last name (but he knows you) dropped by a week or so ago.
Here's a shot I took in Montreal in July of 1967. Not a good angle but the headrests must be unmolested, at least. Group of cars gathering for the road trip to Lac St. Jean; the "500" refers to "Club des 500 [viols]" --(look it up in a French dictionary).Attached Files- Top
