63 master cylinder date code

simple one for those that know, but I maybe brain dead but I could not find it in the NEW 63 - 64 judging manual, is the letter I used in the date coding on the Master Cylinders. I don't think so

I've seen 63 mc's with L and M dates, so the answer is sometimes.

Question was is the letter "I" used in date coding on the MC, not the fact that a letter such as "L or M" was used. In my very feeble memory, don't remember "I" being used

If you have an M date the I is not used. Others will swear that L is for December therefore I was used.

That is why I said sometimes.

Robert, Do an advanced search on this topic. See Gerald Coia Sept 11th, 2009.
Not an easy subject and it doesn't seem that all are on the same page on this date code info. Julian or regular calendar, I or no I.
Harry seems to know more about 63 MC date codes than most of us.
See the NCRS Corvette Spec Guide on page 5 for info on "The Month Letter I."
It's confusing.
At least the FI distributor tags do not contain the letter "I".

In general, Over the last 32 years of researching parts I have found that casting date codes do use the letter "I" and therefore "L" = December and stamped date codes do not use the letter "I' making the letter "M" = December but there are exceptions (1965+ AC fuel pump stamped date codes using the letter "I").

I am looking at a K-31 dated 63 MC for my nov 9 car. just wanted to make sure that it passed judging.

Apparently the casting date codes on the 63 M/Cyl was another exception and did not use the letter "I". The "K 31 2" casting date must October 31, 1962, since November only has 30 days. Noland Adam's 63-67 book (page 77) shows 63 Corvette 30837S109192 reported a 5462389 M/Cyl with a "R4" and a casting date "K-29-2". The engine on this car is stamped "F0211SD" (page 187) so the car must have been made sometime in mid to late Feb. 1963.
