    68-69 TIM&JG Error

Maybe I just need new glasses but I'm pretty sure there is an error on page 16 in regards to the steering column interlock label.

It says that early 69's used a large paper warning label into July of 69 and then switched over to the second style in Aug/Sept which is a much smaller label with white letters printed on a clear background. I've seen several "early" original cars from say Nov 68 to March 69 with this clear label with white lettering...mine included. I know for sure that my Jan 31st car had it's original label because when I bought it the interior was totaly original and to this day it still has the original paint and label on the sterring column.

How could my car and so many others built Nov-March(maybe earlier and later as well) have these "late" labels? Could both styles have been used at the same time? Was there a recall with the early columns that cause them all to get swapped out with later Aug-Sept columns at the dealer thus making it look like early cars had the late label?

    Any thoughts?

I suppose that another possibility is that there was a dealer campaign back then to replace all the first design labels with the nicer looking later style???

Greg, the new 68-69 TIM&JG includes copies of Chevrolet Service News articles that apply to 68-69 Corvettes. The April 1969 Article titled Corvette Steering Column-Control Lock Tube Housing Cover Added should answer your question about late labels. I don't think any labels were used after this change. I can't help you on when the label changed styles on earlier cars. Maybe someone with knowledge on the early 69's will chime in.
