    Identify these C3 radios

    I want to put these in the next issue of the Driveline. What year are they for: Model 01VFP3 product # 7302721
    Model 21VFP1 product # 7937571

    First digit is the model year; looks like 70 and 72 for you; the 1 indicates Chevrolet; V is Corvette; FP indicates monaural as opposed to stereo. I'm not sure of the final digit.

      Ralph,

      0 = 1970
      1 = Chevrolet
      V = Corvette
      FP = Am/FM mono
      1 = revision #

      I think that you can decode the other radio.

      My 1949-1972 Chevrolet Radio Parts Catalog (P & B 5B) lists # 7302721 as 1970-1971 Corvette AM/FM and # 7937571 as 1972-1973 Corvette AM/FM.

          Re: Identify these C3 radios

          I don't think the 68 and 69 models were numbered like that. The model numbers for corvettes radios were simply: 7302721 for AM/FM Mono and 7303211 for the AM/FM Stereo and the multiplex adapter was a 7303201. You can almost tell the year by the model number (68 or 69), as there were only some 3311 Stereos and 24609 Monos used in 68. Then there were some different variations in the model numberings for the 70's.

              7302721 was the 1968-71 Corvette AM-FM radio. The 7937571 was, as you mentioned, the 1972-72 Corvette AM-FM radio. The units are functionally interchangeable but differ in certain minor configurational aspects.

                Tag number, which Ralph asked about, give more information than the 7-digit GM part numbers which you refer to. They were numbered on a tag on the radio, just as Ralph indicates.

                  Correct, but in 68 and 69 that tag had the P/N with the serial number below it. I think we may be saying the same thing???? Left to right 68, 69, & later.
