A start would be a high redline tach, but that was also used on other high HP cars but definately on FI cars.
On 58 and up if it had washers the tank would be above the battery.
To Mikes point different years had different things, such as position of FI emblems, different types of air cleaner mounting hardware, etc.

All '59 and '60 radiator supports have the hole in the radiator support. The distinction between fuelie and carburetor is subtle: The cap applied to the carbureted cars will upset the four screw holes surrounding the hole. Since injected cars didn't use the covering, the screw holes will remain completely flat and undisturbed.

250 hp cars did not use the fresh air inlet, so the cover will be in place. 250 hp also had gen driven tach, like the carb cars, so it somewhat depends on the represented configuration of the car as to what to look for. Depending on your location and the car's it might be worth hiring a "local" who is knowledgable to take at least a "first look" at at car if it is a major distance away from you.

Aw, you are right. I tend to forget about the 250 HP cars.

The LHP radiator core support is an interesting way to tell if the fuel car was LHP or HHP.
As mentioned above the LHP had a block off plate on the car support. Reason for the block off plate is something I never understand and I have been in this for a long time.
GM didn't use a hose from the air cleaner to the radiator support on the low HP. So therefore the block off plate was held on with self tapping screws. Look at the holes of the support to see if they are threaded. If so bingo. LHP.

Don't buy a fuel car unless you have a pro next to you looking at it. Even then it's a gamble.

Say the hood is closed. And the car has FI emblems on the fender. Study the placement of the emblems. See if they are parallel to the ground. IF they are run fast.
