Re: Water pump belt installation
Tim the best way is to remove the water pump pulley and slip belt onto crank pulley and then loop around the w/p pulley and slide onto the studs of pump.If there are no studs, Put one of the w/p bolt hole at 12 and one of the pulley holes at 12 and slip onto w/p shaft.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Agree, or you could make studs by cutting off the heads of regular hardware store bolts, then after getting the pulley in place with the belt on and tightening a few nuts down on the studs, remove the studs one by one and replace with the proper bolts.- Top

Re: Water pump belt installation
I’m going to be installing a new Quanta water pump belt on my ’67 350 horse car soon. There are no power accessories, so the belt goes from the pump to the crank.
What is the best way to install this belt? I’ve done it many years ago and I remember it being very difficult.
Tim------
Remove the crank pulley. Install the belt in the groove. Place the pulley flat up against the harmonic balancer. Pull it down until the lip on the rear of the pulley "snaps into" the orifice in the balancer. Rotate the pulley until the mounting bolt holes in the pulley line up with those on the balancer. Install the bolts. Done.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
