Need some guidance on an automatic power glide transmission for a 1958. Does anyone know the correct factory color this was painted. I think it was flat black but not sure. Going to get e car judged and not around my judging manual currently. If black please let me know of it is a true flat or semi-flat paint. Thanks Eric

Re: C1 58 power glide transmission question
Mike, Sorry new with termalogy. Cast Blast ? My automatic linkage is new and is cast metal (silver) right now. I have heard mixed reviews it was painted flat black and others say it was cast metal (silver) in color. Sorry still new at this.

Re: C1 58 power glide transmission question
cast blast is a paint that trys to simulate raw finish of a given metal. since your linkage is new an has a "silver" finish, i'd leave it alone and use as such. i painted mine cast blast because they were originals with surface rust that i removed with glass beading. mike- Top

Re: C1 58 power glide transmission question
Do you have a photo of the BLUE powerglide emblem on a 58". I am sure where that should be. i only ahve a powerglide raised letters but it is also painted black. This would be a big help.

Re: C1 58 power glide transmission question
I did not take a photo of it when I had my 1960 PG out of the car. The mounting area is on the torque converter at about the 1 or 2 o'clock position. The blue disk has a square hole in the center and it mounts over a small square bump of cast iron on the torque converter. It is glued in place over the square bump.- Top
