Looking for an old Restorer article

I cannot locate my copy of The Corvette Restorer Index, and I need to find out what issue of The Restorer an article appeared in. The article was entitled something like "And the Numbers Match", or something like that. The focus of the article was a compilation of factory mistakes when stamping engine, transmission, frame numbers. The article featured missing characters, upside down characters, additional characters in the VIN and / or engine code stamps on various Corvette components.

Can anyone identify the issue of The Restorer that this article appeared in?

    Ed,

The Restorer search page has a few categories that may help......

Unfortunately you cannot enter a search string like "And the Numbers Match". You have to specify the category and year. I tried a few combinations but no luck using your title, however, Winter 1996 shows a article about Factory Engine pad Regrinds.

A handy feature would be to allow the search to list ALL articles so you could import to a file and search separately.

    examples.......
Your search results for: Engine Codes, 1963
    Issue
The Ethics Of Engine Restamping Spring 1982
    Flint Engine Stamping Fall 1992

Real Life 1963-67 Engine Pads Spring 1995

Your search results for: Engine Codes, 1972

      Ed,

Tip, iIf you have the older Restorer DVD version, you can go to the DVD, don't start it, go to the Data folder, then open the Print folder.

The Print folder contains all the Restorer text (.txt) files. You can search the text file from the Print folder.

Don't have the DVD. I am hoping someone remembers the article. I'll keep digging.

Try the word "anomalies" in the title - it might have been a John Amgwert column, not an article.

Loren-By memory John had a picture of a pad with anomalie stamp either on the cover or in the article. It was used as a FI test motor by the FI gentleman from Arizona.

Vinnie, I think the story he's is looking for is one that the "Squirt" did in the early? '90's

Ed advised those were not the articles he was interested in so I'm taking them down...however I think we might have hit paydirt with this one...
