73 new fan belts to short how can I verify I have the correct pulleys on the car?

I have a 1973 L48 4 sp 350 no ac, no Ps. I ordered the alternator belt and the water belt from Quanta and they are too short by about an inch. They sent me a b210d and a b212d. The water pump pulley # is 3991423 bw the crank shaft pulley # is 3858533bj. Are the pulleys wrong or do I have the wrong belts? lnkemb@aol.com

I do not have a 73 Corvette parts catalog but I do have a 1979 Corvette Parts Catalog (June 1979).

    Gr. 0.659
    Pulley # 3858533 (2-groove, 6 5/8" dia.)
    69-73 Y (350) w/H.P., S.H.P.
    74-80 Y (350) exc. A.C.

    Gr. 1.062
    Pulley # 3991425 (single groove, 5 3/4" dia.)
    71-75 Y (350)

    Gr. 2.274
    Alt. Pulley # 3844100 (3 7/32" O.D., 1/2" groove width)
    73-74 Y (350) exc. A.C.

    Gr. 1.066
    Fan & Alt. Belt # 326088 (3/8" - 52 3/4")
    73 Y (350) exc. A.C.

No water pump & fan belt listed for the 73 Y (350)

    Water Pump & Alt. Belt # 9433718 (7/16" - 33")
    74 Y (350) exc. A.C., P.S.

Maybe this will help. What are the part number listed in the 1973 AIM? Do you have the correct alternator bracket & brace?

You have the correct waterpump and balancer pulleys for your application. Your alternator pulley should be the 3844100 that Dave mentioned. Unfortunately, the alternator pullies are often not marked with a part number.

By the way, you should also have a single groove pulley "sandwiched" onto the front of the waterpump pulley. This is the AIR pump driver pulley. All 1973 Corvettes were originally equipped with AIR. The part number for that pulley is GM #3991425 which was later replaced by GM #14023158.
