    Dave,

When I had my 2011 done I was told to keep it waxed. The wax would help to protect the film. I was also told to tape the edge before waxing.

to maintain the finish and to remove bugs as well as road grime I use Meguiars Detailing Spray.

I've had the 3M on a number of vehicles including my CTS coupe I just got last week. My installer recommends Plexus, and includes a can of it with each install. Waxing/detailer will definitely help, but Plexus will work best for removing any swirls. etc.

I just buffed mine with stage 3 3M buffing polish product to remove tire rubber streak you get from racing. Don't burn it . Came out nice.

My dealer gave me a spray can of Plexus to use when my 3M was installed and specifically told me to use this instead of wax.

            http://www.amazon.com/Plexus-Plastic...eywords=plexus

It does a great job, and I also use it on the screen protectors of my iPhone and iPad.
On rare occasion I've used a bit of polish to remove very stubborn stains from my Clear Guard. I work from fine to very fine, and then finish it off with the Plexus. Yes, there are times when the bug stains are very hard to remove!
The Plexus also removes the yellowing that seems to occur over time, especially lower on the body.

I have both 3M and that other brand that 3M bought out on the 2008. My installer also recommended Plexus, but specifically cautioned against the use of anything containing petroleum products on it. I wonder if that counts the gasoline I spill down the side of the car when fueling up?

Probably. I know that gas will yellow the clear stuff quite quickly, but Plexus also cleans it right off.
I keep a can of Plexus and a microfiber rag in my car at all times, as well as a squirt bottle of Meguiars Final Inspection.

                  Terry,
does this mean you 3M'd the side of your car? If so, we need to have a talk.

                    George,
The entire nose is covered, the rockers, and lower 4 to 6 inches of the doors (to the shadow line), and behind the doors to about the level of the gas filler door (including the rear brake vent). There are also some small pieces in the door opening recess. So the short answer is yes. I did not do it myself. My skill level will not handle that.

I've had the 3M material on several cars. I treat it just like the paint. Wax, spray detailer, clay bar etc. Never had a problem with any of it.
