    Carpet Glue Removal?

I am doing a frame off on a 69 convertible and have a question on removing the carpet and insulation glue. Is there an easy to remove the glue or do most people just clean the are and scrape the thicker areas? I would thing that new carpet pad under the carpet would cover any small amounts of glue that remains after scraping the thicher areas. Would like to hear from others who have replaced carpet and their experiences. Thanks for any comments.

Steve- I just did my 68 glue removal a couple weeks back. I tried some of the chemicals but not happy with the time and mess that goes with it. I ended up using the straight edge razor and removed it very quickly and finished with a light sand over the remainder.

      Steve,
I used a medium width putty knife and grounded the edge so it's sharp and started scraping. The flexibility of the putty knife allowed me to angle it so you get underneath the glue; especially in the not so flat areas. I also followed up with a sander. Not fun and it took awhile. Like you said if you get the thick areas you should be fine.

Used a putty knife. Rounding the edges is a very good idea.

The local FLAPS should have a removable single edge razor blade gasket scraper tool that has a handle. These work pretty good.

Just completed my 65 and I used xylene and brass wool (materials from Home Depot) it turned out good.

Just make sure you use rubber gloves and have good ventilation.
