Years ago, I had my original 63 alternater restored. They put in dated diodes and overall I was very pleased with the outcome. I, for the life of me, can not remember who did the restoration but they did advertise in the Driveline. I remember that the rubber boot that covers the large red wire was held in place by a lip on a red plastic insulator. When I received the unit it had , and still has, a brownish fiber washer. The boot won't stay in place because it can't attach itself to the washer. Which insulator is correct?

Re: Alternater rubber boot.
Perry, My 63 has a red plastic insert that seems to be a pressure fit for the boot, most later models had a lip that locked it in place. The restorer here for most of use here is John Pirkle, His son now runs the operation I believe.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
