The GM and Delco core is discontinued. However, I doubt very much that these cores have been manufactured by GM or, even DELPHI-Harrison, in many years. I expect that there is only 1 manufacturing source. I'd probably go with a Spectra-Premium core.

Unfortunately, while C4 radiators were aluminum, C4 heater cores were never converted to plastic/aluminum and remained copper/brass right through the end of C4 production. This leads to problems with the solder joints, especially when used with Dex-Cool specified for later C4's. I recommend the use of Zerex G-05 for all C4's.

Good luck with the heater core replacement. Get ready for a shocking shop bill given the number of labor hours required for this job. Mitchell's gives 3.5 hours for the job. If you can find a shop that will give you that on flat-rate, TAKE IT!

        Re: Heater core

Lyndon changing the heater core on your year of C4 is not really really to hard of a job. My opinion is that I would rather do it than let someone who has never changed one on your year of C4. I did my 1985 a few years ago and would do it again if I had to. I was patient and used my C4's shop manual for my only helper. The heater core change on my air conditioned 1970 was about the same task. Just took my time.

I am at the age in my life that I would rather pay someone than have my self to it. Twenty years ago I would have done it
