I am restoring for Top Flight my 1966 427/450hp with f41 suspension. What must I purchase to install for front and rear shocks and from where?

Re: 66 F41 Shocks Question
If you have your old F41 shocks they can be rebuilt. Otherwise I would check the NCRS Driveline for the contact info for Dan Patch and for Americas Finest Corvettes. I believe that both offer these shocks for sale or do rebuilds. They are not inexpensive.
Many of us without F41 buy current/recent AC DELCO shocks, and then remove the stickers/logos, paint them the correct color, install the correct paper ID labels and call it a day. The deduct for this latter approach is usually minimal and the cost is not great.
Larry
EDIT: There are also a few guys that routinely offer used F41 shocks for sale. They are also not cheap. But if you also want that info, let me know. They do not always sell through the Driveline, although I believe that they are NCRS members.- Top

Re: 66 F41 Shocks Question
Larry: Trust that all is well. When you said above "[M]any of us without F41 buy current/recent AC DELCO shocks, and then remove the stickers/logos, paint them the correct color, install the correct paper ID labels and call it a day" what specific current AC Delco shocks do you recommend? I'm having a tough time finding the size and a venue to buy them. Any guidance would be much obliged because I need to go this route this week. Have the right gray paint and labels; just need the Delco shocks now. Many thanks. Best, Ned- Top

Re: 66 F41 Shocks Question
The '63-'64 guys many times buy these, since they are supposed to be black:

They are stamped "Made in Mexico" so you lose points for date (plus maybe some for the lack of the Pliacell markings), but if you paint them the correct gray color, and put the proper sticker on them, you get 60%- 80% of the CDCIF, I think.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

front-----GM #88947653, aka Delco 530-315
rear------GM #88945172. aka Delco 530-4
The above are the only shocks currently available from GM for any 1963-82 Corvette. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 66 F41 Shocks Question
Joe-- Are the 530-4 the same extended length as the originals or are these the shocks that allow U-joint binding when the rear suspension is unloaded?- Top

Patrick-------
That I do not know. All I can say is that these are the only shocks that GM has currently catalogued for the 63-82 Corvette application. These have been around a long time now. I think they are manufactured by Federal-Mogul (Moog) or Arvin-Meritor (Gabriel). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
