    68 Heater Box Repair

I posted once before on this issue but had no luck- thought I would try once more before I go to extremes.

I'm looking to replace / repair the internal metal support for the heater box (68 non AC). I have not been successful finding anyone who sells internals nor repairs the metal. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? If so, how did you fix the problem?

I have a metal fabricator that I use for my business that can take CAD files and fab a new part- obviously that is a wicked expensive path that I would like to avoid.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Pat

Seems like the best path at this point. Anyone know if the 68 internals are interchangeable with other years to help expand my search?

      Thanks,
      Pat

        Re: 68 Heater Box Repair

Pat, A few years ago, I was in the same situation with my 68. I bought a cheap, busted up heater box with a good support in it at Carlisle, hoping that it would fit. The support went in without any problem. I have no idea what year the box I bought may have been from, but I do not think it was a 68 box.

        Good luck,

        John

          Pat,
A good used one should be available at Carlisle. Also I suggest you contact "Harley Jim" on ebay if you want to go that route. Jim has all kinds of vette odd ball parts c1, c2, and c3.

Thanks guys, I will try Harley Jim and continued online search. If no luck there it will be added to the Carlisle list. This has quickly become one of those hard to replace parts.
            Thanks again for the help.
