    Re: Charging issue on 67

Jerry, the battery almost completely discharged on the 1st night of cranking and running the engine. We had to hook up a charger. It would not charge. I went last night and bought the cheapest VR that Autozone had, connected it and now it does show a charge at the gauge. Tiredness prevented me from thinking enough to check it with my multi-meter at the battery. So, now I'm pretty sure it's the VR. I was going to call the man in Ga. on my way to TN today but forgot to bring his #. I'll look it up on this site tonight and call him in the morning. So little time any more, especially since I hit 60 this month! If he doesn't help on this (14 months since invoice, but 1 week using, I'll try the voltage adjustment--may be back for help on this) Thanks everyone for their responses. Al

Problem Solved---Operator Error!! Found the problem. As stated above, I installed the new VR and everything worked as it should. Contacted the rebuilder to return the VR, and as I was boxing it up today for shipment, I noticed that the lowermost contact on the VR as it is installed was bent enough that it was not going into the wiring harness when the harness was installed. Straightened the terminal and reconnected all wiring, cranked the engine and What Do You Know-- it was charging as it should!! Moral of the story Check and re-check everything and check a 3rd time-you never know the slightest thing you can overlook!! Thanks to all who responded for their suggestions. Boy, do I feel like a dummy now? Al

No dummy at all, you found the issue, that on itself is a great achievement!
