'64 conv. door glass to lower supportl setting dimensions

Can anyone provide me with the correct fore & aft dimensions for positioning the '64 convertible door glass in the lower support? This would be the dimension between the front or rear end of the support to the forward / rearward most point on the glass at the support. My original glass was previously removed and is no longer available to look for witness marks for the rubber setting gasket on the glass. I'm not sure how critical this dimension is for proper window fit & sealing, but the guy installing my glass in the setting channel doesn't want to guess on the relationship of the glass to the support. Neither the AIM nor the service manual covers this. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Jeff, If you don't receive other responses, write to me (Private message) in 2 weeks. I'm out of the US until June 10. When I return I am planning to remove the panel from my driver-side door. With it off I can probably obtain some rough dimensions for you. Doug

I just set them about equal overhang on both ends. Has to be deep enough that the frame doesnt dig into the fuzzies.

I am in the process of assembling the doors on my '67 convertible and I just set my drivers door window last night. The window had some of the original tape still installed. I marked the ends of the tape with a grease pencil and removed the remainder of the tape. To double check things, I installed the window support to the regulator assembly and then set the window into place pushing it into the forward track, installed the rear track and put tape on the window where it seemed to line up the best with the lower support. The tape lined up with the grease pencil marks I had made earlier. The rear dimension is 3/4" from the end of the support to just where the window starts to curve upward, the front dimension is 1/4". I will try installing the window later today and see if there is any problems with the support hitting the fuzzies.WP_20130530_003.jpgWP_20130530_004.jpg

Looks a bit close in the front to me.

Great write up Gene. Looks like I am off the .10" dimension at the rear, the rear of my glass lines up to the rear of the support. I did install the glass last night and the power window works great and my support does clear the fuzzies at the front but maybe I should re-adjust per your sketch.

                Hello Gene,
Thanks for your reply. Your article is excellent! Just what I was looking for. Your directions / diagram answered all my questions. This would be a great article for the "Restorer" magazine. Have you considered that?
                Thanks again.
                Jeff
