Mid Year hard top date codes

Not widely discussed, here is a question for all you hard top experts...

What month of what year was the change over from a MM-YY date code format to a alpha format where the letters were in lower left and upper right?

Ron --- by the table in the '65 TIM&JG, I'd submit that it happened early in the 1965 MY, sometime between October 1964 and November 1964. Table shows: Oct '64 = "64" (lower left) and "10" (upper right); then, Nov '64 shows "D" (lower left) and "K" (upper right). A note cautions that "exact changeover in date format is not known. If a discrepancy arises on an original-appearing hardtop, consult the Team Leader".

I believe the example below is E = year 1965 (lower left), and E = month of May (upper right).

Wayne, Your May 65 top would fit any Alpha-Alpha date means, but to help a little, I have E B data, Feb 65 that match to original Feb car.
