For judging, how important is it to have the exactly correct key configuration as long as the key is the proper octagonal Briggs & Stratton / GM design and 1 key operates ignition, doors, glove box & spare tire lock? Should it still have the "knock out" in place with the key code stamped on it? Is the key code which appears on the knock out the same 4-digit number that appears on the side of the lock cylinder barrel? Were the cars delivered with 2 keys (copies), and do both need to be present for judging? Thanks for your feedback.

Re: '64 key & lock questions
Jeff, both keys need to be present for judging. I got a couple of keys made for my 63 with the codes stamped on them from Pete Lindahal. He's a great guy to deal with and treats everyone fairly. And the 4 digits on the lock cylinders are the key codes. If you want the keys made you may need to send him a old key for him to read the key cuts just in case someone has re-coded the locks.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

You need the same design of keys (yes, two keys total, both the same) that came with the car originally. The knockouts don't need to be still present in the keys, but if they are not present in the keys, you need to present the separated knockouts with stamped codes to the judges. And yes, up thru '64, one key operated everything.- Top
