Re: could this be a c1 scissor jack?
Dennis,
Could very well be a C1 jack.
Look on the base, it should be cast and have the following numbers on it "SJ4653"
I know that is the correct number for 1962 Corvettes and I believe most other C1's.- Top

Re: could this be a c1 scissor jack?
I have three jacks in the garage and none of them are Corvette's. One looks just like your photo. Measure the overall length of the threaded shaft and most likely it is greater than 14 inches and will not fit into the wheel for storage. A Corvette jack has a threaded shaft approximately 13 1/4- 13 1/2 inches. Also the crank adaptor on the end of the shaft is a casting ( I believe the Corvette's is machined from steel stock). I believe the bearing is not correct because on mine the bearing balls roll in the casting and are not part of an independent bearing. The base is a weldment however the Corvette jack uses a casting. I hope you can follow all of this?- Top

Re: could this be a c1 scissor jack?
Thanks to everyone who contributed to my post . The photo is from a locally listed up coming sale . This info will help me to identify the jack if I am able to purchase it. From these post I think it is more than likely a old generic jack. Is there much of a market for a generic style ? Thanks, Dennis.- Top

Re: could this be a c1 scissor jack?
Interesting thread. For all the years I've owned my '64 I never paid the scissor jack much heed. I knew it wasn't correct and thought it was a truck jack. Thanks to Dave's sketch it's checks out as a '53-'61 Corvette jack!- Top
