On the original 67 ignition switch, do you have to depress the key and turn to the left (CCW) to switch it to ACC. My serial # is 115--, a Feb 67 car. Only ones I see listed in parts vendors state it does not have the provision to turn left for ACC. Do not currently have my JG book with me. TIA Al

Yes, the '67 ignition switch function requires that the key be pressed in slightly in order to turn it to the accessory position; this is judged in the Operations section, and is a 25-point hit if the key can be turned to Accessory without pressing it in.- Top

Re: 67 Ignition Switch
Al,
Are your ignition lock and ignition switch both GM originals? if so, your problem might be with the lock portion, which might be correctable with a new key, or it might require new tumblers, or it might require a new (e.g. NOS) lock. Having a new key cut to code (not just a duplicate of a worn key) is the cheapest place to start. If that doesn't fix it, then the old tumblers should be replaced, since that is the next cheapest thing to try.
So, first of all, do you know your ignition key code and have you had a new key made to see if that fixes the problem?

Re: 67 Ignition Switch
Gary, I have an original key with the key #s still stamped into it as well as the bill of sale with the #s. I purchased an original key from VolVette, but have not had time to find anyone or place to cut the key for me by using the #s. I'm mainly interested in trying to purchase an original assy that is correct for my 67 or find someone who can rebuild mine.- Top

If you send me your key code via PM along with your mailing address, I'll cut a new key to that code and get it in the mail to you by Friday. If that works, you're golden, or at least you know what the solution is.
