    Can someone tell me what the correct jet and metering rod sizes are for a Carter 3406S or 3461S? 1963 340shp

    Jim,

    Primary jets .104, primary metering rods 16-389 (.060-.069), secondary jets .0689.

      Correct yes, but good luck trying to find any after market jets that measure up correctly.

      I trust Jim meant 3460S and 3461S.

          I found the .104 main jets in an Edelbrock strip kit I had . In looking at their AFB knockoff carbs they use about a .95 jet in secondaries for their street/performance carbs. I think I'll give those a try just to see how it runs. I also several rod pairs in the kit I may try.
          This all started when I took the top off my carb and found someone put a secondary jet in one of the primaries and to make matters worse the metering rod was stuck in the jet! GRRRRRR

            Terry;

            FWIW, The company you referred to is also known as "Carburetors Unlimited" is where I too bought many AFB parts, and is the source where I got the jets that didn't measure up correctly.

            There are a lot of subtle differences between Carter AFB's and Edelbrock parts.
