Intermittent Horn Short

Reciently the horn on my 67 convertible will intermittantly sound when I'm making both right or left turns. I have a telescoping steering colum. I've replace the horn contact as well as the three shims that sit below the contact but to no avail. The contact button withinin the colum is working properly as the horn does sond when I manualy press it.

Any suggestions???

Ira, It surely sounds as though you have the horn wire that is grounding inside the column.If there is a wire piniched or bare and is hitting ground this could cause the problem. what to do to start is take the button and contact out of the equation and then turn the wheel to see if the problem is still there.If so, start looking deeper into column.
