    What am I missing?

I had a comment on one of my prior judging sheets that I was missing some tape on the backup wire for my 67.

Here is a shot of the firewall. As I look in the AIM, UPC 12, C7, it shows a "Clip - Bond Securely". Since it doesn't say just "Clip", I'm assuming it means some kind of tape.

Here is a photo of the area I'm talking about.

What kind of tape or different fastener do I need on that clip?

    Please advise.

    Chris,
From photo it looks like a replacement back up switch assy, by looking at wire colors. Typically the connector on the main and back up switch sits adjacent to that clip. The portion of that harness from the main harness should be partial black vinyl wrapped. It looks as if your back up harness (part of switch) is too long, thus not having routing look correct. I don't see connector nor harness branching off the main harness.

Gene, you are correct. This is a current day replacement wiring harness. I understand your point about the wire having a missing clip and tape. That makes sense now given what was written on my judging sheets.

I called Lectric Limited, and it sounds like there is a connector between the main harness as the backup light pigtail. So all I should have to do is move that connector so it is more visible during judging. Granted, I still might take a hit because of the incorrectly configured WIRES, but at least the connector and tape will be present.

On the tape, is the tape just there to hold the wires together, or to hold the wires to the clip?

Here is how I am understanding your comments.

Coming down from the main wiring harness, the main harness ends in a connector. Just prior to that, there is black vinyl tape on just the wires. Then it goes through the clip (as seen in my photo), and the wires head down to the transmission. So the order would be:

      1. Wires from main harness (black vinyl wrapped)
      2. Connector
      3. Clip
      4. Wires down to backup switch on transmission
