Re: It is not the coil.

Dave, had the identical problem on my '62 because I was getting rust in the fuel filter bowl ahead of the Carter AFB carb. Any degree of acceleration sucked up rust particles and plugged something, jets I guess. Don't see your filter setup, but symptoms are identical. My problem was rust from the old gas tank kept creeping into the bottom of the bowl until I finally replaced the gas tank. My setup was a 300 HP Carter AFB with the glass bowl and filter, which I don't see on your car. I've had the same problem with other vehicles until I replaced the gas tank, otherwise I just wiped out the glass bowl periodically. It would run OK for a while and then started the same bucking or stop dead. Don't know if your fuel filter setup allows this to happen, but mine did it all the time. The rust particles would settle to the bottom of the bowl temporarily, then get sucked up into the fuel line. I didn't see a similar response in the thread, so just passing along my experience.

Re: It is not the coil.

Robert, the 300hp+ have an AFB carb, which is a different bolt pattern than the WCFB carb used on the 250hp cars. Since the gasket is the same size, I may attempt to make a carb insulator. It shouldn't be hard to make and I can make it as thick or as thin as I need it so that I have hood clearance.

Chuck, tank is spotless and the inline filter I had was always as spotless also. I did now removed this extra filter from fear that filter itself may have been a restriction. The carb filter is as clean as the day I had the carb restored.

You need to eliminate anything that will cause the fuel to boil. The 250hp engine has a heat passage under the carburetor so plug that then wire the heat riser open and try the engine.

Ok, I will try it. Thanks
