What are the correct 1954 Horn part numbers

I'm working on a 54 and the horn part #'s are 681 and 682. The judging guide states the correct horns for 54 are 687 and 688. I haven't been able to find any horns that have the numbers indicated in the judging guide. The judging guide indicates the 681 and 682 are for a 53; is it possible they were carried over to a car assembled in Apr 54? Does anyone with a 54 know the numbers of the horns in their car? Thanks in advance, Eric

    supposedly (air quote)....681 and 682 are 53 horns.....and 687 and 688 are 54 horns.
I have not seen any 687 and 688 horns - I have three sets of 681 and 682 horns. One set is off a mid production 54
I am sure the 681/682 could have been carried over in 54 like other parts...but who knows...
you cant see the part numbers when they are installed (or you have to work really hard with a mirror to see them and typically the stamping is very shallow
and easily covers with black paint.
Joe Perri and I have chatted about this several times....he rebuilds alot of the 53/54 horns....

Thanks for the info Chris. I believe these horns are original because I have no reason to believe they were ever replaced because they appeared to be in original position and fasteners used when I removed them. Not to mention they had overspray on them from the one and only previous repaint. Wonder where all the 687 & 688 horns are at? Funny that the least amount of corvettes ever produced would have the most amount of horns available in the used market. Maybe I'll contact the 53-55 team leader and see what we can do to re-research these horns. Eric

good thing is you cant read the numbers...with the horns turned and sitting sideways - hard to read....
