Whats a good resource for correct part numbers for a 68 Engine?

    Yes, that's correct. My listing of the 5232720 was an error on my part (which I can't correct now in that post). The correct part number is 5232695. The 5232695 is discontinued. The hydraulic lifter 5232720 remains available.

      What you say is true, but GM solved the problem with the 3970627 valve springs in maybe 69 or 70. My 66 L72 had problems with broken springs, but was promptly fixed and never dropped a valve.

      Yes, the problem with the 65-69 valve train was the valve springs. The originals were GM #3859911. That spring is to be avoided like the plague, even if one finds an NOS set at a dirt-cheap price. In my mind, a set of these springs is worth ZERO, except as a novelty item never to be installed on an engine.
