Re: 69 Wiper Access Door_Washer
Jim,
I suspect the Heli-coil is made from a superior material to teh aluminum die cast (pot metal) of the door itself. Thus you will not have nearly the corrosion issues that result from the dis-similar metals in the aluminum based door and the steel fasteners.
Howel,
The less strong grades (That is why I said blue and NOT red) act as an insulating agent to keep the aluminum door and the steel fastener separated and thus minimize the opportunity for galvanic corrosion to take place. Note I did NOT say "prevent". Any anti seize material will work on the same principle of separating the two major components to also minimize galvanic corrosion.Terry- Top

Re: 69 Wiper Access Door_Washer
I happened to be messing with my shifter this afternoon on my '69 and noticed something white poking out from the drain; they've probably been there for almost 30 years! I was thinking I should have left them there so I'd remember where they are in case I need them in the future! A bolt, two white bushings and half a well nut from my fender louvers.
