In my collection of Delco-Remy ignition coils I have two coils that I am trying to identify.
The 1st coil is embossed "1115082" and "12-V" about 3/4" to 1 1/2" from the bottom. The "Delco-Remy" is also slightly smaller than the rest of my Delco-Remy coils. Could this be original equipment on a 1955 Chevrolet or other 1955 GM model?
The 2nd coil is embossed "083" and "12V" near the top of the coil. Based on my research on the web I found that the 1115083 coil is possibly original equipment on 1956-1957 Chevrolets.
My 1957 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Mar. 1957) lists GM # 1115087 in Gr. 2.170 as the service ignition coil for 1955-1957 Chevrolets 12 volt (exc. dual 4BC).
