2013 NCRS National Road Tour Report

The 2013 edition of the RT starts next week. There are ten starting locations with a total of 172 families driving to Hampton, Virginia. In 2013, we have fifty-five families that have never been on a National RT.
Please mark your calenders for July 13,2014. We are currently working on the Road Tours to Kansas.
Drive your Corvette and have a great summer.

Michael,

What does "NPP" stand for, or is it the brand name? My '65 doesn't have no "stinkin' NPP switch"...............it has non-stock (ie: very low restriction) sidepipes with the ability to run open headers via these:

Thanks for the warning! I'm deaf too, so I could just take my hearing aids out, they don't work well anyway. I never have them in when I drive my '67 L71 with side exhaust, and would love to take that to Hampton, but with the side exhaust, no power anything, and no A/C over a 2500 mile trip, my wife would never go along.

But, here is a good answer to your question about NPP: "It doesn't really stand for anything. It's the RPO (regular production option) code for the dual-mode exhaust. RPO codes aren't abbreviations and they don't have much rhyme or reason to them. Other examples include F55 (magnetic selective ride control), Z51 (performance handling package), C2L (dual roof package), and U3U (navigation).

Note that NPP is for the dual mode exhaust, i.e. the exhaust system that opens and closes baffles in 2 of the tail pipes based on engine r.p.m. and throttle input"

The controller replaces a fuse in the fuse box that allows you to open the baffles whenever you want and make it louder, it is not ever anywhere near as loud as side exhaust however. The factory guys at BG say on a ZR1, NPP stands for "Nuclear Propulsion Package"

Strange RPO code with three alpha characters. No wonder I was thrown off. After suffering the indignity of referring to Corvettes as "C1, C2, etc" now we have to bear the burden of RPO codes without numeric characters.

NPP could also stand for: "not police proof".

The C6 is cleaned and almost packed, departing Thursday AM with the Tour.

I was driving the 63 Coupe down I 95 yesterday in Mass. to be put on a carrier to go to the National. I believe I passed Scott Sinclair in his travel home but I could not see inside the windows. Anyway, if that was you Scott.....Safe Travels.

An "uncharacteristically" long day. Needed to do it to save yesterday for home business, and had to catch up today, next few days to LNO will be very leisurely, as it should be. But lots of rain, highs in the '70s, very unlike the Nw Mexico and West/Central Texas I used to know all my life in July, hope all you "easties" are getting our hot weather....
