63 Conv console re installation

I am re installing interior components on a car that has been apart awhile. Clock and radio in, side panels on. The aluminum trim rails don't seem to fit and don't mate to the console plate. Who is on top: plate or rails? Any comments appreciated.

Console will go in first, then trim rails.

Console extensions go in first, then main console to cover ends of extensions, then thin u shaped rail that wraps around the center and holds the console in place.

If they are original (like mine), treasure them.
